Street Photography
Saturday 13 January
Esplanade Place Ville Marie - 1pm - 2 Hours
Joshua Renaud
People, cafes, vendors, street merchants, buskers, historic buildings, art installations and much more. The power of observation underpins the art of great street photography. Learning to "see" interesting detail is a practised skill and we introduce you to easy methods that will open your photographer's eye and expose you to a world that is alive with detail. The most rewarding part of the class is learning how to approach interesting people and have them willingly pose for you.
We will also go over settings, focusing techniques and lens choices common to street photography to help us capture those random chance encounters.
Industrial Landscape Photography
Sunday 04 February
Old Port of Montréal - 1pm - 2 Hours
Joshua Renaud
We will be starting with an overview of landscape photography technique, how to decide what to take a picture of and how to compose shots, we will then move into settings and more technical challenges to get an idea of when the camera behaves best for landscapes.
You can use buildings and other man-made structures compositionally in the same way other landscape photographers use trees and rolling hills. Wind farms, harbours, cement works, power stations, quarries, pylons and building sites are just a few of the industrial landscapes you can photograph.
Urban Industrial Photo Walk
Saturday 24 February
Montréal's Southwest borough - 1pm - 2 Hours
Joshua Renaud
This class will be an exciting split between exploring one location and walking! We'll start by spending half the class wandering the farmer stalls of Marche Atwater. For the second portion of the class, we'll walk up towards Griffintown along the canal. This will give us a super interesting contrast between showcasing local producers and the industrial landscape surrounding them.

The City at Night

Many people don't think about nighttime being a good time to do photography since there's a lack of light. However, armed with knowledge about your camera's settings and the properties of light, nighttime photography can be a lot of fun.
In this meetup, you'll learn about the best camera settings for nighttime photography. We'll also explore the kinds of light available to us and how to use that light to make some awesome photos. As always, there are exercises that will help you put your new knowledge to work.
